Autofocus Literary is a publisher of artful autobiographical writing in any form: personal essay, memoir, confessional poetry, journals & diaries, letters & e-mails, bits & pieces of each of these, or some other thing that makes art from your life. We publish a book imprint, an online journal, and a podcast.

Autofocus Books specializes in relatively brief books that fit, and occasionally stretch, the boundaries of our interest in literary autobiography. We launched in early 2022 and currently publish six to eight books a year.

Autofocus is our online journal for artful autobiographical writing. It was founded in the fall of 2020. Currently, we publish three issues a year: fall, winter (themed), and summer.

Since all autobiographical work—due to the nature of memory and self-perception—is in some way fictional, we also publish autofiction in our journal and imprint. But since writing in the journal is not labeled by genre, please understand readers might interpret these pieces as memoir.

Submissions for the online journal open for two months at a time (around same time as each issue release), then close for two months at a time, ongoing. Book submissions open periodically, as needed, for brief windows.

The Lives of Writers is our podcast series of interviews with writers about their lives in and out of books. The podcast launched with the online journal in late 2020 and currently releases once a week.
